Sushil Soni started learning paintings from his father at the age of 10. He continued his art education at college level and did graduation in drawing and painting from Nathdwara college. He has also learnt miniature paintings from Ghanshyam ji Nimbark and introduced intricacies of miniature into folk Pichwai paintings. He experimented various mediums and technique with traditional Pichwai painting.
Pichwai is a style of painting that originated 400 years ago in Nathdwara, in Rajasthan. Intricate and visually stunning, pichwai paintings are made on cloth and depict tales from Lord Krishna’s Life. The word “pichh” meaning back and “wai” meaning textile hanging.
