About Us

Why do we exist?

thecurators.art is an online gallery that offers a unique collection of artworks by renowned and promising Indian artists. Our goal is not just to help you buy, but to build a relationship; with thecurators, and the art you choose to take home.

We are a passionate art initiative, founded by Sapna Kar and Rajneeta Kewalramani, with the objective of helping young collectors build collections that stand the test of time.

As curators with a keen understanding of Indian contemporary art, and having worked in the industry for over 15 years, we deliver a carefully curated selection of artworks with the convenience and personification of the internet. We believe in every work we show, and will only offer you artistry and craftsmanship that we would be proud to possess personally.

Credibility is our biggest asset, and we believe our clients and artists are partners in this journey of all things beautiful.

Why us?

Handpicked Works

Closely monitoring industry trends, we showcase artworks that have been personally handpicked by us. Our motto is quality over quantity - we only offer our clients works we would be proud to possess personally.

Authentic Sourcing

Most of our artworks are sourced directly from the artist's or artisan's studio. Our strong industry network allows us to back the authenticity of every work we sell. Credibility is our biggest asset

Buyer Protection

We handhold our clients through the buying process. From selection and approval to logistical support - our buyers come first.

Comissioning and Curatorial Inputs

Besides having a unique, wide selection of artworks, we at thecurators also provide curatorial inputs and take commission requests. We help source and facilitate the creation of artworks according our client's genre, size and artist preferences.

Corporate Buying

Corporate locales, hotels, and similar establishments have specific briefs. Be its quantity, price point, or overall design language – we are able to understand and customize according to your brief. We match your art to the spatial context.

Personal Touch

We are conscientious about the works we sell, and provide client support even post completion of payment & delivery formalities. Our aim is to prioritise our relationship with our buyers and deliver with a personalised touch

Meet The Curators

With a cumulative experience of over two decades in art sales, commissioning, fairs and exhibitions in India and overseas, Sapna Kar and Rajneeta Kewalramani are friends turned co-founders. Their passion project – thecurators.art, is an online platform that showcases promising talent and offers value buys to collectors.

Over the last two decades, we have had the good fortune of spotting many upcoming talents and enabling their first platform. Be it their first solo catalogue or the first time their art was auctioned. There were artists who got an opportunity to showcase outside smaller Indian cities in urban settings. These are sought after artists today and doing incredibly well for themselves.

We both also espouse a deep faith in traditional artists, whose workmanship and artistry are in no way less than contemporary artists. Phad, Pattachitra, Pichwai, Kailghat, Gond an so many other mesmerizing forms of art linked to our culture & heritage.

It is our belief that when one spots talent and offers them the right visibility and positioning, it can create a career path for their futures. A source of income via pursuing their chosen passion. There is no greater joy. Perhaps this is even more relevant in these times, with art not being ‘an essential commodity’ – and yet the ‘not so renowned” artists have to run their livelihoods.

thecurators.art is proud to be providing many talented artists their first online opportunity in India alongside some of the most well-known and established names. This will be an ongoing practice which will only grow with time; and hopefully create many new stars on the Indian art horizon. Producing coveted works that find place in contemporary collections.
