Sukanta Dasgupta’s works draws inspiration from mythological stories, religious beliefs, his education and his experiences. He has always been fascinated by the randomness and chaos all around. But beyond the apparent lack of order he is equally fascinated by the underlying orderliness which at times screams for attention.

Sukanta gets this urge to uncover underlying simple ideas reflecting orderliness from varied sources and put them on canvas for everyone to experience. In his chosen medium of Paper Collie he tries to bring a balance between the overall composition and the hues that lend it color while trying to retain the simplicity of the idea. He tries to compose a balanced picture which is pleasing to the eye and reflects a little bit of him! He has had several solo shows: at Pune,Triveni Kala Sangam and India International Center, New Delhi.
