K Sivaprasad Reddy

K Sivaprasad Reddy was born in a village called Mandal in Kurnool district in 1956 in a farmer’s family. Due to financial obstacles in the family, he had to give up education and serve the family’s agriculture business. It was in this period that his passion and interest towards art strengthened. Since the passion was not supported by the family as a possible source of income, he left without informing to pursue a 2 year programme at the Srikalahasti in Chittoor district.

He continued his efforts in the art of Kalamkari, by not just creating exemplary works but also imparting the craft to youngsters. This led to establishing Kalakshetram Kalamkari arts centre. Soon his works were exhibited across the country through Hastha Kala melas and Craft Bazaars in 1995 he was celebrated with a state award; followed by the prestigious ‘Shilpa Guru’ award from the hands of President of India.
