Mumbai-based Shruti Jhaveri is a renowned artist specializing in mixed media artworks. A graduate from the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Belgium, she initially created artworks using wood, metal and plastic. Later she created paper sculptures, the fluid forms inspired by natural life, and its organic ebb and flow. Shruti was affected by the destruction of underwater life forms by manmade pollution. She translated the beauty of these underwater beings into telling pieces that increase awareness about this cause. She has showcased her work in 25 shows across the globe.
Shruti uses environmentally friendly, sustainable materials to create art, the primary material of use being shredded wastepaper. The sculptures are fluid, organic and mid-flow, drawing inspiration from similar forms and phases of an individual’s lifespan, each work showcasing a golden period of it’s life.
