Sachikant Sahoo

Sachikant Sahoo is a Pattachitra artist whose family has been in the practicing of the craft for generations. He learnt the art from his father since the time when he was a little boy. Sahoo has been painting for the last fifteen odd years.

Pattachitra, meaning 'cloth-picture/painting' in Sanskrit, is a generalized term used to describe a style and format of painting with origins in Odissa and West Bengal. He has participated in many Government exhibitions and he believes that Indian traditional art, if given the right type of backing, can progress to great heights.
