Mohammed Osman is an artist, born in a small town called Achampet, near Hyderabad. He spent more than twenty years in his hometown before moving to Hyderabad and obtaining a degree from the College of Fine Arts at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
In his hometown, they worshipped the ox, which they decorated during village festivities such as Sankranti and Pongal. While living in Hyderabad, Mohammed would not come across the decorated ox too often. However, when he encountered a decorated bull in the streets of Hyderabad he became nostalgic.
He decided to paint these bulls as a way to preserve and keep this beautiful culture alive. The bulls were decorated with a variety of clothes. People used fabrics with vibrant colours and patterns. They were covered with these fabrics as they went from one house to another. The random combination of fabrics and beautiful arrangements are what excited Mohammed to paint this subject.
