Shiffali Wadhawan

Shiffali Wadhawans’ work explores the inherently conformist nature of human
society and the possibility of choosing to exist purely in a reality of our own making.
By juxtaposing realism with imagined backgrounds, flat patterns, and metaphorical
symbolism, she initiates an honest intimate dialogue, between the work and the
viewer, wherein they can reflect on shared experiences and thoughts.
She uses symbolic metaphors in a contemporary context to tell the story of life as
she sees it. The tactile process of shaping her canvasses herself before painting
gives her the feeling of coloring outside the lines. The sculpted look of these
shaped canvases makes her work transform into an amalgamation of sculptures and
paintings. Besides paintings, she often works in other mediums of sculptures and
conceptual art.

Shiffali has done many group exhibitions in India and participated in international art
fairs. Her work is a part of important private art collections. This young artist is
making an impression on the art space in India and lives and works in Delhi.
