Afza Tamkanat

Born in Hyderabad, Afza Tamkanat’s art engages with an array of socio-political issues. Daughter of one of Hyderabad's better-known artists, Fawad Tamkanat, Afza picked up the brush at a very young age and went ahead and earned a MFA in painting from the city’s Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University. Today her work is her strength. It is the medium through which she expresses herself.

In a world full of uncontrollable and erratic events, her art forms a powerful weapon to showcase her myriad emotions. It is an inherent, irrepressible and inseparable part of her and it defines who she is. She has a special style in which she gives a vintage look to her paintings. She works on her canvases with coffee and watercolour and some mix media.
